Steel pipes made of the S355JOH grade are typically referred to as being of a moderate grade. This grade of hollow sections is noted for its inexpensive cost compared to most steel pipes. It also has low carbon content. As a result, these square hollow sections are a very affordable substitute. Chemically, factories produce S355JOH sections with a maximum carbon concentration of 0.22%. Consequently, these hollow pipes are quite simple to shape and form through the hold-finish process. The hollow sections' lengths range from 6000 mm to 18000 mm, with special cut-to-length sizes also available. The substance is often employed in several structural, mechanical, and construction applications.
Hollow sections of S355JOH Steel for rectangular pipe types range from 40mm*20mm to 400mm*200mm. Carbon, silicon, manganese, and phosphorus are the major elements of this material. The S355JOH sections may be welded without intergranular corrosion since it is low-carbon steel; however, adequate filler material usage, preheating, and post-weld heat treatment are advised to prevent welding fractures when using certain welding techniques. With wall thicknesses ranging from 1.8mm to 14.27mm and an outside diameter of 21.3mm to 457.2mm, S355JOH RHS is available in various configurations. Good mechanical qualities, good strength, and good weldability are all present.
Applications of this grade of Circular Hollow Sections include marine industries and power plant industries, offshore, electrical, and many more. The outside diameter of these sections ranges from 21.3 mm to 457.2 mm. The technical delivery requirements outlined in the European Standard are intended for hot-finished S355JOH Circular Hollow Sections manufactured in a variety of ways, and they can be applied to sections that have been hot-formed, with or without the requirement for further heat treatment. These spherical hollow sections might be cold-formed after being heated, which is successful in achieving a comparable metallurgical status to that of the hot-formed output.
